St. Paul’s National School Waterford

Chess Club

Our chess clubs meets at lunch time on Thursdays in Ms. Halley’s room. We are already good chess players and we have learned some new opening moves and tried out a few quick check-mate finishing moves. Ten brave players accepted the challenge to play St. Paul’s Community College Chess team. We visited their school on March 4th and bravely faced much older and more experienced opponents. During the matches, the room was silent, the games, long and intense. Our team gave a great account of themselves and even snatched a few wins.

A big well done, we are very proud of you all!

Ms. Halley

Congratulations to our 6th Class Chess Masters

Our 6th Class Masters Chess team had a great day out at the Féile Fichille 2025 in Carrickpherish with Mr. Dunne and Ms. Halley. Each of our 8 team members played 6 games against teams from Gaeilscoil na Déise, Newtown NS, Fews NS, Seafiled NS and Portlaw NS. There were 136 children playing on the day. The boys gave an excellent account of themselves and enjoyed the tournament.

U13 Hurling Final

Well done to our U13 team who reached the Rionn C Shield final yesterday. Hard luck on a tough loss to a strong Faithlegg team.

They never threw in the towel and wore the school jersey with pride. It was a great opportunity for them to play in Walsh Park.

A special mention to the 4th class children who stepped up to play for the school’s senior team.

Waterford Schools’ Athletics Day

Well done to all of our pupils from 1st class to 6th class who took part in the Waterford Schools’ Athletics Day on Tuesday the 14th of May. We had very wet weather but this didn’t dampen their spirits. They did St. Paul’s N.S proud on the day. A special congratulations to one of our 5th class children who came in 2nd in the sprints in his age category.

Congratulations

Congratulations to our School Choir on a magnificent performance at the Peace Proms, such a wonderful evening for all involved.

Summer in the City

Congratulations and well done to our wonderful musicians from 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th classes who performed in John Roberts Square under the amazing musical direction of Danny Pullman from Music Generation. We could not have been prouder of how well you played.

Our Mini Art Exhibition

Artist Adele Stanley worked with 5th and 6th class to produce some wonderful pieces, which she fired them in her kiln in her art studio near Lemybrien. We were so impressed with the finished pieces that we had a mini exhibition in the school hall.

We had a lovely surprise from Ms. Murphy’s Class this morning

Take a look at the video we made last year to celebrate 50 years of St. Paul’s N.S.

We miss you boys and cannot wait to see you!
